While I like the thought of these cases, it took my six year ancient nephews about three weeks to learn how fun (and simple) it was to peel the Nerf foam off and ruin the “armor.” It doesn’t do a whole lot to protect the DS when it’s in pieces in the trash.

I am not sure how much armor to protect your investment should be. But I find it extremely comfortable and simple to use. Nerf does a excellent job making all of the ports and controls accessible. If you plot on removing the armor frequently, I suggest you find a different armor. While this is removable, I don’t. Also I have dropped my DSi on a tile floor once since installing it. No hurt, but if you are unlucky enough to drop in on a back corner, it could crack the hinges in the back. But I reckon this is the best armor I can find for the DSi.

i bought this for my daughters DS last year and finished up using it for me own because I like how comfortable it makes it to hold. When my daughter used it on hers the foam very quickly (within 1 day) started coming off in small pieces. Perhaps this one is already improved upon as this 2 tone color is new. The concept of padding is fantastic but, if it is dropped while the unit is open it the ds screen can crack….ours did…..and the hinge broke as well.
I would recommend this for adult ds owners as protection against light bumps and certainly for comfort but for kids……unless it’s been greatly improved, it’s not worth it.
As for removing it from the ds, it’s very, very simple to do but you have the separate the top from the bottom at the hinge and the pieces will them pop right off very easily.
